More news for Northstowe as we heard this week that a submission made to NHS England to become part of an initiative called ‘healthy towns’ has been successful.  This is a partnership between Cambridge University Hospitals, the Homes and Community Agency and South Cambridgeshire District Council and Northstowe is one of only 10 winners nationally.  Dean Harris of the HCA's Northstowe team explains.

Phase two UXO works given all clear

UPDATE - Following on from the Community Forum on the 20th January, we're pleased to update that we have successfully implemented the HCA’s high risk ordnance clearance activity on Phase Two at Northstowe.   We wanted to update people as soon as this work completed so here is a short update. Community Forum Update

It was a chilly evening for the most recent Community forum in Longstanton.  Around 50 people came to hear about the local square plans for phase one and the next steps on phase two.  The HCA team attended along with Gallagher and both Councils plus one of Gallagher’s contractors, Hawk.  Paul Kitson from the HCA’s Northstowe team provides an update for those who missed it.

Communty Forum is on 20th January

The next Northstowe Community Forum will be held on 20th January at Longstanton Village Institute from 7pm until 9pm.

If you have any questions or comments that you would like to ask in advance of the Community Forum or are unable to stay for the Community Forum, please feel free to come and have an informal chat with Gallagher Estates, the Homes and Communities Agency, South Cambridgeshire District Council or Cambridgeshire County Council from 6pm until 6.45pm.

Happy New Year - Northstowe in the news

We're back after the festive break.  Lots going on this year including detailed planning applications submitted for the local square, a lake, green spaces and drainage for phase one.  And we are looking forward to the Community Forum on 20th January at Longstanton Village Institute.  More details will follow. In HCA news, you may have seen this from the Prime Minister's office about building Starter Homes at a number of HCA sites including Northstowe.

December community 'drop-in'

This week HCA and Gallagher attended an informal drop-in with the Council.  We talked to residents in Longstanton and the surrounding area who wanted to find out more about work that had been going on since phase one got planning permission in April 2014, and planned work for phase two.

Community Garden Dig a success!

Organised by Rodney Scarle and hosted by Hilary Stroude of the Longstanton and District Heritage Society a small cohort of 14 volunteers excavated a total of five test-pits over the weekend as part of the Northstowe archaeological work that is going on.  Here is thier blog about it and info on the finds.
