Northstowe’s new community centre: A hub for local art, culture and more

Get ready, Northstowe residents! Plans for a brand-new temporary community centre are progressing with the delivery of the modular building. The temporary building has been placed next to the green on Pathfinder Way, alongside the space earmarked for the permanent community centre.

It’s set to be the perfect space for community groups of all ages to come together for a range of fun and engaging activities, and includes a kitchenette, toilets, storage, an NHS room, two large community rooms, and space for three offices. From community cafes and pantries to baby and toddler groups, private events, children and youth activities, and art workshops, the new community centre will have something for everyone.

Any creative locals will be excited to hear that the Council is planning to involve residents in creating artwork to be displayed on various parts of the building for everyone to see.

With the Council committed to enhancing biodiversity in the area, it also plans to agree on a new landscaping scheme. The community centre will be accessible to all, regardless of how they choose to get there, with the inclusion of disabled car parking and cycle racks.

District Councillor for Northstowe, Cllr Natalie Warren-Green, has highlighted the positive impact that this new community centre will have on various groups, including the Warm Hub and the food bank.

It’s clear that this community centre will have a lot to offer for the Northstowe community, and we can’t wait to see what fun activities and events will take place there over the next few years. South Cambridgeshire District Council will inform residents of the opening date as soon as possible – watch this space!
