The latest residents to find their dream home at Northstowe are enjoying the best of both worlds, attracted by the new town’s abundance of green space and links to the city.

Teacher Jennifer Taylor (32) and partner Arthur Tolmie (40), who recently found a new role at Cambridge’s Science Park, explains how they fell in love with Northstowe without even stepping inside their new home before purchasing.

“Due to the restriction of lockdown we did everything remotely. We had a virtual tour and received lots of photos and completed paperwork online, though we never actually saw in inside the house before buying it. It was a really smooth process and saved us a lot of back and forth to Cambridge.”

Moving from Windsor, Jennifer and Arthur were keen to find a home that gave them the opportunity to get outside and explore the countryside. Jennifer said, “We enjoy going out for long walks through the countryside and Northstowe’s location is just perfect for this. In fact, our home is right next to a large park which makes us feel like there’s lots of green, open space right on our doorstep. “We also really like that Northstowe has great links to the city – it’s the best of both worlds and suits our lifestyle completely. It was an easy decision.”

The couple have purchased a five bedroom, three storey home from Taylor Wimpey. “In Windsor we rented a two bedroom flat, said Jennifer. “During lockdown it really hit home how important having our own outdoor space was. We feel very lucky to have found a home that meets all out needs. Plus, without many family members close by, we’ve now got lots of space for visitors to stay.”

Northstowe’s open spaces and buildings have been created to enhance biodiversity, creating green corridors all around that link to the wider Cambridgeshire area. With 24 areas of green space available including the 14.8Ha Western Park with allotment and orchard land, a lake, multiple play areas and pocket parks, Northstowe is designed to encourage active lifestyles, independence and wellbeing and provides excellent facilities for people to socialise, play and keep fit.

Caroline Carter, Sales Director at Taylor Wimpey, said: “Just like Jennifer and Arthur, we’ve seen lots of interest from homebuyers moving out of urban areas in search of green space and sustainable living. On behalf of all the housebuilders here at the Northstowe, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest residents. “Though lockdown was challenging for people looking to move, our virtual appointments received some fantastic feedback. This is something we will continue to offer to help people find their dream home in Northstowe.”
