Funding available for Community Groups

Community groups play a vital role in making Northstowe a vibrant, inclusive and connected place to live. A range of funding opportunities are available to help local organisations deliver projects, activities and events that benefit residents, improve wellbeing and strengthen community life. 

Homes England Community Activation Fund (Up to £10,000 per application)

The Community Activation Fund provides financial support to voluntary and community sector groups, charities and public sector bodies who want to further improve the quality of life and opportunities available to Northstowe residents.

Successful applications could include initiatives that promote access to arts and cultural activities; support environmental sustainability; and promote the use of community facilities in Northstowe.

The funding has already supported Northstowe Hub’s Midsummer Festival, Northstowe Holi Mela and Sustainable Northstowe’s Skip Morning, alongside Light Up Northstowe and the Northstowe Arts Show. Read more about these community events: https://www.northstowe.com/community-activation-fund-release

The grant is administered by South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) on behalf of Homes England.

Kickstart Fund (Up to £1000) Kickstart Enable (£500) / Full Kickstart (£1000)

The Kickstart fund enables Northstowe-based not-for-profit community projects to get off the ground.

Funded through Section 106 contributions, the grant is administered by Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) on behalf of Homes England.

Eligible applicants must demonstrate how their project will benefit Phase 2 residents by:

-              Bringing the Northstowe community together

-              Reducing loneliness and social isolation

-              Improving mental and physical health and wellbeing

-              Engaging older residents

-              Providing activities for children and young people aged 5 and over

Northstowe Town Council Community Grant

The Northstowe Town Council Community Grant provides funding to support activities, services, events or initiatives that benefit people living in Northstowe.

Applications are welcomed from local community groups, voluntary organisations, charities, clubs and not-for-profit organisations throughout the year, and are considered until the allocated budget for the relevant financial year has been fully committed.

Northstowe Foodies CIC Community Funding

A proportion of the pitch fee income generated from independent food trucks and pop-up traders is allocated by Northstowe Foodies CIC to support local community projects and initiatives.

Community groups, voluntary organisations, sports clubs, charities, schools and other groups delivering projects that make a positive difference to Northstowe residents are encouraged to apply.

Applications are welcome at any time but funding levels depend on the amount of income received. Each enquiry is considered on its own merits.
