Planning application submitted for new BMX track

Following a consultation in July 2024, the planning application for the much-anticipated BMX Track at Northstowe’s Eastern Sports Hub has been submitted. This marks a significant milestone in delivering high-quality recreational facilities for residents of all ages and interests in Northstowe.

The proposal

The proposed BMX Track is to be located between Northstowe Secondary College and Halcyon Mere. It has been designed to be a vibrant addition to Northstowe’s growing range of sports facilities, supporting residents to lead an active, healthy and fun lifestyle. Set within the Eastern Sports Hub, the track will provide an exciting space for BMX enthusiasts and beginners alike. The plans include:

·       A BMX track designed for various skill levels.

·       Grass mounds to enhance the natural feel of the site and provide good views over the adjoining lakes.

·       Ornamental shrubs and wildflower areas to integrate the track into the broader landscape.

·       Seating areas to encourage community engagement and spectating.

·       Hedgerows and native planting to create a natural buffer around the facility.

This facility aims to provide a, fun engaging and safe environment for BMX riders, fostering a strong cycling culture within Northstowe while enhancing the town’s green spaces.
