The new town of Northstowe has welcomed its 500th resident, marking an exciting milestone in the development’s story. With well-being and sustainability built in, Northstowe is quickly becoming home to many people looking for a new way of life, in a town that reflects the things that matter to them most.

This is certainly the case for Alistair Philips and his partner Carla Sheldon, who relocated from Surrey to buy home number 500 in Cambridgeshire’s newest town. Both teachers, Alistair and Carla were keen to find a home closer to family, where job prospects were plentiful and healthy living was as standard.

“It was my brother who recommended Northstowe to Carla and I”, said Alistair. “With family close by, we like the idea of living near Cambridge without being in the city. Here you get the best of both worlds.
“When we came to look around the development, the guided bus route stood out as a real plus point. We like that Northstowe is built for a more environmentally friendly way of life and the bus and cycling facilities will make it easy for us to get around.”

Currently still working at schools in Surrey, both Alistair and Carla are looking forward to finding new roles in Cambridgeshire to complete their move. “It feels like an exciting time to be in Cambridge. The city is expanding and there are lots of opportunities for us to find new teaching jobs, either in the city or the surrounding areas.”

The couple bought a four bedroom, detached home from Taylor Wimpey, offering lots of space for visits from family and friends. Alistair adds, “We’re excited to watch the town grow as new facilities emerge and more people move in. The community has been incredibly welcoming and it already feels like home.”

Caroline Carter, Sales Director at Taylor Wimpey, said: “On behalf of all the housebuilders here at the Northstowe, we would like to extend a warm welcome to Alistair and Carla. “Handing over the keys to our 500th resident feels incredibly special and we’re looking forward to hitting many more milestones as the town and community continues to grow.”

Reviving the site of the former RAF Oakington, Northstowe is a new sustainable development located between Cambridge and Huntingdon. Surrounded by farmland and steeped in local history, Northstowe has an identity that is entirely unique and one that promotes well-being and sustainability for its residents.

Northstowe includes a variety of housing types, including affordable homes, suiting a range of buyers and budgets.
