Housing is at the heart of Northstowe.  It will provide up to 10,000 new homes to the region.  Being a town, Northstowe will include a variety of housing types for a variety of people and budgets. The first families could arrive in 2017.

Because a number of developers will deliver the town overall there will be many different architectural styles linked by consistency in both approach and quality.

Character areas taken from the unique and exiting features of the landscape will add interest and variety as you walk, cycle or take the bus through the town. 

There could even be the opportunity for people to buy plots in order to build their own tailor-made homes and potentially some interesting build styles such as off-site manufactured housing.

From the start all the properties at Northstowe will be connected by fibre optic cable rather than traditional copper wire. This ‘fibre to the premises’ means that everyone will have access to the fastest broadband connections.

4 more housebuilders will be building and selling on phase one; Bovis Homes, Barratt, Taylor Wimpey and Linden Homes, plus many more on phase two as it starts construction in 2018.  Register interest for Northstowe news to keep up to date with developments.

Design codes will be used to create distinct neighbourhoods across the town. Different types of homes will be provided in each neighbourhood ranging from large detached houses at the edges to more urban areas of townhouses and apartments closer to the town centre.

Homes will be informed by local building styles and what has worked well in the past, but will be designed for 21st century living.

The height of homes in Northstowe will by and large be either two or three storeys with a provision to build higher 4/5 storey properties in the heart of the town centre itself, catering for households of all sizes and types. 

It’s likely that there will be numerous home-buying incentives to aid everyone from young people, older people, right-sizers, first time buyers and second-steppers the opportunity to purchase a home of their own at Northstowe.
